Winners of the RYA Membership Survey Prize Draw Announced

At the end of 2015 the RYA undertook a membership survey to gauge the thoughts and feelings of members and non-members as part of its membership structure review.

The aim of the survey was to get feedback from members and non-members on a range of issues to ensure the RYA offers a clear, simple and tailored membership that meets the needs of its members from dinghy sailors to personal watercraft users.

Of the 2,600 people who took part in the survey three lucky members were chosen at random to win a Garmin Virb X camera in the survey prize draw, worth over £300.

The winners were; Rob Ellis-Paul, Zbigniew Kirkor and Ioan Lavery.

Winner Rob commented: “As a keen sailor and instructor I feel that membership of the RYA is an indispensable source of support and advice. I’ve been a member for quite a few years and the RYA have always helped me out, whether with regular magazines, emails and website features, or on occasions when I’ve needed specific advice on issues such as insurance. It’s great to see their presence at events such as the London Boat Show and the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show, but smaller events such as annual instructor conferences are also incredibly useful. The membership benefits, such as ticket discounts, members’ lounges, and special offers on sailing kit make being a member great value for money.

“I completed the membership survey because I think that the more the RYA are informed about their members, the more they can tailor the services they offer to suit our needs. Winning the camera was brilliant, it’s going to be very entertaining filming myself falling off my RS600, and will also be a really useful tool when I’m instructing. Thanks very much RYA!”

Winner Zbigniew added: “The camera is awesome! Thank you very much. Let me take the opportunity and thank all of you for all the RYA does for the sailing fraternity.”

Conor Swift, RYA Membership Development Manager commented: “It is really important for us to get our members feedback to ensure what we are doing reflects the needs of our members and helps us shape the membership offer.

“Membership has steadily grown over the last few years, we are currently nearing 107,000 members, but the continued support of our members and the wider boating community is vital if we are to continue promoting and protecting safe, successful and rewarding British boating.

“Offering a free prize draw is just a little added incentive and one way of saying thank you for taking part and the ongoing support of the RYA.”
