WARNING: Recalls of Personal Flotation DevicesAfter the recall of Mustang PFDs in the US and Canada in 2011, a number of other manufacturers have issued warnings about potential failure of their PFDs to inflate.http://www.uscgboating.org/assets/1/workflow_staging/News/543.PDF Crewsaver 290N lifejacket recallA major lifejacket recall has been launched by Crewsaver because of a fault which could compromise the stability of the equipment. Jackets affected are the Crewsaver 290N manufactured between June 2011 to October 2012. These Lifejackets may be subject to loosening of the bladder webbing straps which may result in the stability of the jacket being affected. Crewsaver announced: 'In order to determine if you are impacted, Survitec Group is instructing the return of the Crewfit 290N Advanced Life jacket ONLY for inspection.' The serial numbers of the potentially affected jackets are detailed below. These should be returned for inspection, and where appropriate, repair or replacement. Owners of the lifejackets are being warned not to use them and instead to return them to the nearest Survitec Service Centre or to Survitec Gosport, to have them inspected and tested. Other recalls:The following lifejacket recalls have been announced in the press over the last year. Any person possessing one of these lifejackets, should contact the manufacturer before returning. Do not use until it is checked. Many people are still not aware of these recalls and are wearing lifejackets that may require checking. MullionMullion has reported that there is a potential Safety concern with the Compact 150N ISO 12402 Lifejackets, once it is inflated. Mullion has recalled all Compact Lifejackets which have been sold since 1st Dec 2011 if they have a YELLOW valve in the oral inflation tube. Compact Lifejackets with a RED valve in the oral inflation tube are not subject to this recall. Seago YachtingSeago Yachting is now extending the recall of Seago 150N and 175N and Seago Junior lifejackets to cover nearly TWO YEARS worth of production.
