The O’Day Mariner 50th Anniversary Rendezvous

The O'Day Mariner 50th Anniversary Rendezvous is meant to be a fun get-together for Mariner owners celebrating the 50th anniversary of the birth of the O’Day Mariner. Saturday will be the main event, although registration will include museum admission for Saturday and Sunday. The hope is for at least 20 boats and 100 attendees.

Those who can trailer their Mariners to Niantic and participate in a group sail to Mystic Seaport on Friday, the 9th – it's approximately a four-hour sail – and then sail back to Niantic on Sunday will receive free dockage for both Friday and Saturday nights, a whopping $180 value. This free dockage is open to the first 20 people with boats who register. However, those who register after the cut-off and who want to sail their boats are still strongly encouraged to participate with their Mariners by paying for dock space for both nights or towing a dinghy and anchoring in the Mystic Seaport anchorage (free). There will be a dock party on Friday night for sailors with free food provided by the famous Mystic Pizza.

For those who would prefer to attend without their boats, there will be plenty to do and see during the weekend, specifically on Saturday. There will be featured speakers including Dave Whittier from current Mariner manufacturer Stuart Marine, and Mariner live-aboard (!) Angela Morley. A huge buffet dinner with cash bar is scheduled for Saturday night on Seaport grounds (included in the registration fee), and other activities include an “open boat” time for people to check out the docked Mariners, special “behind-the-scenes” tours of Seaport exhibits organized exclusively for Association members and more. These things are on top of all the exhibits and sights at the Seaport itself and in downtown Mystic.
